The honest order-by date

We ship from our warehouse in Shenzhen, free, tracked and with duties included – there's nothing to pay at the door. Our shipping policy states 13 to 21 business days.

Count the longest time, 21 business days, back from 24 December and you land on 25 November. Many orders arrive sooner. But we can only promise what our policy says.

Why trousers are the safest gift

Shirts sit on the shoulders and chest – there's little room for error. Wide trousers with an elastic waist and drawstring forgive a few centimetres at the middle. Cuffs at the ankle make the length a little more flexible too, because the fabric bunches there.

Here's how it can go the other way: one verified buyer found our Kaze shirt "a lot tighter than the sizing stated. I even went a size above, and it was still too tight. However, it made a decent gift for a friend, who is smaller in the chest area." With shirts, choose generously.

Our rule of thumb: our pieces run small. If you don't know his size exactly, or he's between two sizes, take the larger one.

Finding his size without asking

The surprise should stay a surprise. Here's how to get his size:

1. Check his favourite trousers. The ones he always wears. The label shows his usual size – S, M, L or XL.
2. Remember our rule of thumb. Our pieces run small. If he's between two sizes or likes a relaxed fit, go one size up.
3. Don't be thrown by the label. Our garments carry an Asian size, one above the shop size. Order L and the waistband says XL. That's correct.

We don't publish a size chart in centimetres yet – so when in doubt we'd rather recommend the larger size than pretend to an accuracy we don't have.

If it doesn't fit

You have 14 days from delivery to return unworn items with tags. Return postage is paid by you – we'd rather say that now than in January. If we sent the wrong size or the wrong item, we replace it free. We don't offer a gift card at the moment.

Tip: keep the tag on until he's tried it.

And the wrapping?

We don't offer gift wrapping; pieces arrive in a shipping bag. Our tip: brown paper, red-and-white string, a sprig of pine. Fold the trousers so the drawstring waist sits on top – that's the detail he should see first. And add a note that he can swap for a size up while the tag is still on.
